“I can’t believe we’re doing this,” laughed Marlie.
“I know,” I said and rolled my eyes. “It’s totally ridiculous.”
“I hope it will be fun.”
“Of course it will be fun.” I peered into the candlelit bar. “We’re here together. We’ll have fun no matter what.”
“Well, if nothing else, it will be interesting,” she mused.
“Indeed,” I said. I looked at her and took a deep breath. “Ready?”
I pulled open the door.
As we waited in line to check in, I spotted a poster announcing the event for the night. “Oh my god, I have to get a picture of this.”
I pulled out my phone and took a quick shot.
It came out a little dark, you could barely make out the images of the two strapping men flanking the sides, but the wording was clear:
“Welcome to the ‘Fireman Single’s Party!'”
